Meet Our Team USA Members

Madam President here! Just wanted to make sure our followers know that we have two members on the USA Team (Matt Ziff and Sean Pagoada (and yes, I’m considering him a member since he played with us all of spring 2012 :D )). We are super excited for them and wish them the best of luck this summer as they begin training and fundraising (and all that other loverly good stuff)!
See y’all later!

THE GOLDEN SNITCHY: AVENGERS FOR TEAM USA
I was incredibly bored today, and the Quidditch world is pretty much dead due to finals and the looming announcement of Team USA. So to alleviate the tension and my boredom… I played with Photoshop. Since there are 42 people being chosen (21 official, 21 understudies), I’d say it’s a pretty good…
So I figured I would re blog this, I guess it is sort of relevant to UMiami Quidditch because it features one of our players (me)!! Hope everyone is having an awesome summer so far!

So…
As our semester comes to a close and our summer begins, we look back on our accomplishments over this eventful time and remember all the fun we had… in an awesome picture slideshow!!!!! So go ahead and check it out. Special thanks to Maggie for putting it together. From our first meet of the semester to world cup, to finishing #1 in FQC, 18th at World Cup, and now 4th in the world (but really should still be 1st), there are a lot of amazing memories in here. Defiantly worth watching in 720p in my opinion.

From all of us at MQUM, good luck on finals, have a great summer, and we’ll see you on the pitch.

p.s. I might have gotten a little teary eyed when I watched this. Maybe that’s just me…

Hey all, Matt here. As the new PR chair I’ll attempt to keep the social media (facebook pages, tumblr, twitter, youtube) going. Ali is pretty good at it so I’ll try to keep it to her standards!
UM recently hosted the final FQC meet at home. Since the meet was during a religious holiday weekend, not all the teams were able to bring their full rosters. So to get around that, we had sort of a draft. UM’s top starters acted as captains and then teams were chosen from there.
Teams were pretty evenly picked, so games were all very competitive. In the end, every had a ton of fun and it was a great way to finish off the semester and season. After the matches we played two rounds of “The Hunger Games” drill (I know someone else claimed to have started it but I’m pretty sure we did that drill first at practice a like two months ago).
All in all a great day, thanks to everyone that came out! See you next season!

So Miami swept the Swamp Cup.
We went undefeated and only let in four goals, for a total of 15.5 points per game. I think our total score was 620 points over 5 games. Incredibly. We had 3 shut-outs. I don’t even understand.
Besides that, though, we got to know some of the newer Florida teams better, like FAU and Rollins. I personally think they’re both adorable, and have so much potential. They’re gonna kick ass some day, once they get some experience under their belts.
Also, because I didn’t go last year to the 2011 Swamp Cup, I don’t have a basis for how well the 2012 Swamp Cup was run. But this year’s tournament was almost flawless. We finished early the first day, reffing was pretty decent (granted, a lot of the refs were new), we had a livestream both days (I think the first ever? Pretty freaking awesome), and even though it rained we still had a good time. So, thank you Hannah and thank you UF for putting on such a fun, successful event.
Most importantly, I think we showed that we deserve the “temp rankings” we have right now under the new IQA formula. We deserve that best defense badge. We are not to be reckoned with - we are badasses and we’re gonna claim what is ours. It wasn’t even a contest this weekend - so other Florida teams step it up! We want a challenge!
Pictures/videos to come soon.

OH MY GOD.

LOOK WHO IS NUMBER 1. Kind of unimportant considering this doesn’t include previous games (it’s only for games after World Cup V); BUT STILL! VICTORY! AHHH! And we were given best defense! This is so incredibly exciting!
